Environmental Policy

At Emera New Brunswick, we take our environmental responsibilities seriously.  Following the guidelines of our Brunswick Pipeline Environmental Protection Plan, we ensured forest habitat, watercourses and wetlands were respected through the development and construction of the pipeline.

During operations of the Brunswick Pipeline, we remain conscious of our need for environmental stewardship.

Environmental Management System

We have developed various practices and programs that ensure our environmental commitment is integrated into daily operations.  The Environmental Management System (EMS), in particular, is a set of processes and practices that help us reduce and mitigate the environmental impacts of pipeline operations.  We regularly patrol the Brunswick Pipeline, including watercourse crossings, and monitor for any negative impacts to land, air, water and wildlife.  Any applicable mitigation practices follow industry best practices and meet federal government regulations.

We also continue to work closely with the National Energy Board, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, New Brunswick Department of Environment, City of Saint John, and others to ensure we meet our environmental commitments.
