On Saturday, June 20, 2015, the City of Saint John and Emera New Brunswick officially opened the Emera New Brunswick Field at Shamrock Park, a new artificial turf field located in the City’s North End, a neighbourhood that is home to a section of the Brunswick Pipeline.

Residents, city officials, ENB board members, and staff from Emera New Brunswick, Emera Utility Services and Bayside Power came out to celebrate the new turf field and participate in a variety of activities organized on and around the field.  Children and adults tried their hand at football, Frisbee, soccer, rugby, horseshoe-pitching and tennis.  Young children enjoyed bouncy castles, face painting, and balloon animals, and all guests were treated to a bbq and cupcakes.

Emera New Brunswick contributed $500,000 towards the $1.5 million project, which included the installation of an artificial turf field and new lighting system.  The project aligns with municipal priorities and supports the City’s vision of making Saint John our province’s recreation capital.
