Emera Field

In April 2014, the City of Saint John and Emera New Brunswick announced an investment in a sports field at Shamrock Park, in the City’s North End neighbourhood.  A $500,000 contribution from Emera New Brunswick helped build the $1.5-million state-of-the-art artificial turf field and a new lighting system.

On Saturday, June 20, 2015, the City of Saint John and Emera New Brunswick officially opened the Emera New Brunswick Field at Shamrock Park, a new artificial turf field located in the City’s North End, a neighbourhood that is home to a section of the Brunswick Pipeline.

Residents, city officials, ENB board members, and staff from Emera New Brunswick, came out to celebrate the new turf field and participate in a variety of activities organized on and around the field.   The total cost of the project was $1.5M. The City allocated its funding in the 2014 general fund capital budget. The project is consistent with the Shamrock Park Master Plan and is supported by the principles of both Plan SJ and Play SJ, the City’s draft recreation strategic plan.   Emera New Brunswick contributed $500,000 towards the $1.5 million project, which included the installation of an artificial turf field and new lighting system.
